Where Classic Rock and Metal Music Fans Hang Out

For my 1979 playlist, I only have one debut artist featured. That would be Pat Benatar. She was one of the few female true rockers that got any airplay around that time, and she would get a lot of that airplay for the next few years. Unfortunately, 1979 would be the last year that we would hear Bon Scott on lead vocals for AC/DC. Although Brian Johnson has proven to be a worthy replacement, I’ve always wondered what “Back In Black” would have sounded like with Bon Scott on vocals. I included “Ain’t That A Shame” by Cheap Trick because I absolutely love the drum intro to that song. Also, out of all of the great songs that Van Halen has produced, I think “Light Up The Sky” is my favorite. It just takes me back to that time, sitting outside at dusk in the summer, listening to that song and thinking about girls. The last song I’ll comment on is “Those Shoes” by The Eagles. I may be the only one who thinks this, but there is just something extremely cool about that song. Maybe it’s the guitars, maybe it’s the fact that he is singing about a woman that he’s been in a relationship with, I don’t know. It’s just cool. The playlist is:

1. Flirting With Disaster – Molly Hatchet (Flirting With Disaster)
2. Ain’t That A Shame – Cheap Trick (At Budokan)
3. Since You’ve Been Gone – Rainbow (Down To Earth)
4. Light Up The Sky – Van Halen (Van Halen II)
5. Those Shoes – The Eagles (The Long Run)
6. Lonesome Loser – Little River Band (First Under The Wire)
7. Highway Song – Blackfoot (Strikes)
8. Touch Too Much – AC/DC (Highway To Hell)
9. Just The Same Way – Journey (Evolution)
10. Sure Know Something – Kiss (Dynasty)
11. Message In A Bottle – The Police (Reggatta de Blanc)
12. Goodbye Stranger – Supertramp (Breakfast In America)
13. Heartbreaker – Pat Benatar (In The Heat Of The Night)
14. Fool In The Rain – Led Zeppelin (In Through The Out Door)
15. Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy – Bad Company (Desolation Angels)
16. Don’t Bring Me Down – Electric Light Orchestra (Discovery)
17. Comfortably Numb – Pink Floyd (The Wall)

I don’t see a weak spot at all in this playlist. I’m looking forward to getting it on my iPod and listening to it. It’s on my music player on my page if you want to hear it….

A great playlist in deed. Although for my own personal taste I am not an Eagles fan. Joe Walsh and the James Gang yes, but just can still not get into the Eagles. Pat Benetar should be on every list in my opinion. I've had all of Heat of The Night on my MP3 player since the day I got it, and that was a few years ago. I've had a crush on her since '79. I think I'll put a list like these ones you've done up here, see what we can compare. I love your LOVE GUN icon you have posted. I have that poster that I bought when I was a kid (and I'm 41 now). Its dry mounted and hanging in my living room. I don't care what anybody says about it. its just frickin cool.
