RJhog Colors Playlist

I was sitting around the other day, thinking about making a good playlist. Several things came to mind but I decided to do a playlist consisting of songs that mention a color in the title. Out of 14,000 songs in my iTunes library, I could only come up with about 25 or so rock songs that fit this playlist. That was surprising to me. I would have thought there would be more. I may have missed some based on other colors that are less known. I culled my playlist to 23 very worthy songs. The color bl… Continue

RJhog 1980 PLAYLIST

My playlist for 1980 only features one true debut, and that is by Loverboy. There was a debut of a new singer for an established band. That would be Black Sabbath, who released their first album with Ronnie James Dio. I didn’t know this way back in 1980. I have just recently developed an interest in this era of Sabbath. Of course, my favorite band Kiss released yet another classic called Unmasked (just kidding about the classic part). I remember listening to REO’s “Hi Infidelity” about a million… Continue

RJhog 1979 PLAYLIST

For my 1979 playlist, I only have one debut artist featured. That would be Pat Benatar. She was one of the few female true rockers that got any airplay around that time, and she would get a lot of that airplay for the next few years. Unfortunately, 1979 would be the last year that we would hear Bon Scott on lead vocals for AC/DC. Although Brian Johnson has proven to be a worthy replacement, I’ve always wondered what “Back In Black” would have sounded like with Bon Scott on vocals. I included “Ai… Continue

RJhog 1977

Tragedy struck in 1977. We lost several members of Lynyrd Skynyrd in a plane crash only 3 days after the release of Street Survivors. I can only imagine how much more great music we would have gotten out of this great, classic line-up. On a happier note, my favorite band Kiss gave me two more albums (Love Gun and Alive II). Alive II had a 5 studio songs, and I included one of those (Rocket Ride) on this playlist. Meatloaf released Bat Out Of Hell, which is one of my all-time favorite albums. Fle… Continue

RJhog 1976

1976 is definitely my favorite year of the 70's so far. I think it was great that at one time bands sometimes put out 2 albums in one year. 1976 was no different. Kiss released what many feel is their best album in Destroyer, and followed up the same year with Rock And Roll Over (possibly my favorite). Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band put out a live album and a studio album. Nazareth actually trumped everyone by putting out 2 studio albums and a greatest hits collection. Kansas released Left… Continue

Norskar A Truly Classic Rock Workout http://norskar-workout-jams.blogspot.com/

There have been some requests for more ‘Classic Rock,’ and my iPod’s shuffle mode recently delivered just that on a trip to the gym that burned more than 1,000 calories in 53 minutes of the ellipitical. The machine is what I used to call the ‘kick-ass’ one … It’s much harder than your standard, cross-country-motion device. Again (you can see the stuff that prompted complaints about my too eclectic tastes at http://norskar-workout-jams.blogspot.com/), and the following is a summary of what the i… Continue

RJhog LOVE SONGS

No, not the cheesy love songs you might hear on the Delilah show. These are all very good songs that just happen to have the word love (or one of it's derivatives) in it's title. They are all classic rock songs except maybe the Neil Diamond song (you might actually hear that one on Delilah). The playlist starts out with a great rocker from AC/DC and closes out with another great rocker from Night Ranger. I'm not a huge fan of Motley Crue, but I included what I think is their best song on this pl… Continue
