1. Dirty White Boy…Excellent, rocking opening track. This was a pretty big hit. It has a typical, straight ahead, driving beat. There aren’t too many songs that I can remember that glorifies being a white boy. Great song…9/10
2. Love On The Telephone…This song is criminally underrated. It starts with a synthesizer and then piano intro, similar to Cold As Ice. Good guitar and synthesizer work. Love it…10/10
3. Women…Same as the previous song, criminally underrated. Love the cool sounding guitar intro, kind of like a rubber band. And of course, my favorite subject, women. Lou’s vocals rock, especially toward the end of the song…10/10
4. I’ll Get Even With You…The intro reminds me of Lou Gramm’s future hit, Midnight Blue from one of his solo albums. Lyrics are a little repetitive. Overall, it’s a decent song, nothing earth shattering…7/10
5. Seventeen…Really nice groove here. Again, really, really good vocals by Lou. Of course, the song’s lyrics are about some of the troubles that come along with dating a seventeen year old girl. Probably shouldn’t do that…8/10
6. Head Games…Title track. Really great song. One of my favorite Foreigner tunes. Love the lead guitar, especially at the beginning. It’s got that typical Foreigner bass line. Another relationship song, which tends to be my favorite subject matter…10/10
7. The Modern Day…Another song with vocals by someone other than Lou Gramm, I’m guessing Mick Jones (per Jon from previous posts). Very basic song to me, nothing to write home about. This is just okay…7/10
8. Blinded By Science…This ballad sounds like it comes straight from the debut album. Sort of reminds me of Starrider, but not quite as good. It’s kind of synthesizer heavy. I’ll say it’s average…7/10
9. Do What You Like…This is a little acoustic based song. Not bad, but it just never really goes anywhere. I don’t like the patchwork vocals in the middle of the song. I would say no better than average…7/10
10. Rev On The Red Line…Now, this song I really like. It’s another one of Foreigner’s underrated songs that I would recommend for anyone to hear. I like the short drum roll intro. Lou sounds fantastic on this. It has a really good lead guitar solo as well. The subject matter is, or course, fast cars. Great song…10/10
This album comes to us from way back in 1979 (30 years ago, hard to believe). It spawned 2 pretty big hits in Head Games and Dirty White Boy. Women was also released as a single, but didn’t do as well. I would prefer to listen to this over Foreigner’s previous studio album, Double Vision. I remember listening to the LP quite a bit when it came out. I do like the album artwork, the “worried” young girl in the mens room. Overall, I think it’s a pretty good album.
