It will always be the original VH, no matter what, because they gave rock a good kick in the butt, when it needed it & you can't touch those first six important albums. I saw Van Halen live back in Feb. of 84, during my younger days, that I will never forget. I know some fans knock the Hagar era of the band, but they still rocked out & put out some great albums.

I wasn't a fan of David Lee Roth, so Van Hagar.

Sammy All the Way for me, I agree with the two separate band theory though, I liked them both in different ways and for different reasons.

Van Halen. Period! David Lee Roth had a sound that identified the group, not that he was a great singer, he just had a sound that I identified with. Like AC/DC, Dokken, Bad Company, Krokus, just to name a few that had singers you identified the group. The days of Sammy were good, I think Sammy is a better singer than David was. The Van Hagar days sounded to much like Sammy's band with Eddie on guitar. Sammy's voice is undenyable Sammy Hagar not as Van Halen.
