Yes, it's a lot better. More along the lines of Promised land. Not the easiest first-listen album to get into though.
Remember the old days when we had vinyl and actually took the time to listen to things a few times rather than play them on a crappy PC or mp3 player and dispose of it if it doesn't grab you immediately ? Well, this is one of those, if you can't give the album/artist enough respect to play it a few times, you won't get it and you could be missing out.
There's a few: Man Down should have been the first single, Dead Man's Stare has a middle-eastern Kashmir type feel to it, and if you have kids and have ever been away from them a long time Home Again could have you in tears.
Just listened to it and very glad that I did. It just feels like how I remember Queensryche affecting me in the early days. Best album for a while as far as I'm concerned.
