Where Classic Rock and Metal Music Fans Hang Out

Just heard this today, nice effort, Tate's vocals are getting a bit meh but the songs are good, the concept works and lyrically it's very good too.

Can't wait to pick it up!

I'm going to be getting this soon and I'll end up doing a review of my own.

I used to like Queensryche but have to say that much of the post-Empire stuff is Ok but not great. I also can't get into Mindcrime 2.

Is this better/more accessible?

Yes, it's a lot better. More along the lines of Promised land. Not the easiest first-listen album to get into though.

Remember the old days when we had vinyl and actually took the time to listen to things a few times rather than play them on a crappy PC or mp3 player and dispose of it if it doesn't grab you immediately ? Well, this is one of those, if you can't give the album/artist enough respect to play it a few times, you won't get it and you could be missing out.

Thanks Bob - I might give it a try.

Are there any immediate songs? The problem (for me) with OM2 was that, apart from I'm American, nothing grabbed me even slightly first time out.

There's a few: Man Down should have been the first single, Dead Man's Stare has a middle-eastern Kashmir type feel to it, and if you have kids and have ever been away from them a long time Home Again could have you in tears.

A very crunchy album.

Just listened to it and very glad that I did. It just feels like how I remember Queensryche affecting me in the early days. Best album for a while as far as I'm concerned.

You are right about Home Again Bob. Remember Me is also very moving.

I agree...as a parent, listen to "Home Again"...dont know how you could not be moved by this tune.

Also really like "Middle Of Hell" and "If I Were King".

I think this is a disc that will become more enjoyable as you listen to it more and more.

I know that I'm in the minority, but I really like OM2. I've pre-ordered American Soldier from Amazon and I can't wait.

Just so you know, you are not alone. I had huge reservations over O:mII when it was announced but the album was awesome.

I just picked the CD up today for a big bargain rate. I hope to listen to it over the weekend so I can do a review.
