Ozzy isn't irrelevant at all, he's a rock legend of the highest stature & changed the face of rock & roll in the 70's, as a member of Black Sabbath, along with being a successful solo artist. I didn't believe there was going to be another reunion of the original Sabbath anytime soon. With Heaven & Hell working out so well, it seems, I don't think Iommi wanted to get back with his former bandmate anyway. The business side of rock & roll is dirty, it's nothing new, but because it's Ozzy Osbourne suing Tony Iommi, it's coming across bad for the fans.
Ozzy's legend is being tarnished, whether it's by him or sharon i don't know.
Right now he's just coming across as a self-parody money grubbing clownish incarnation of his former self.
He is no longer relevant today as a musical force, in fact he's just a farce.
Props to Iommi for sticking to playing music and not resting on his Black Sabbath laurels, trying to sell me a cell phone, appearing on a reality show or portraying himself as the Prince of darkness, self-deprecating or otherwise.
When Sharon and Ozzy replaced the bass and drums on the first two solo albums (remasters) just so they wouldn't have to pay the other band members, that was the last straw. I was completely finished with Ozzy. There are four bands several years ago I gave up on and will NEVER support-KISS (never really was a fan to begin with), Axl Rose, Metallica, and Ozzy.
It pains me so much to see Ozzy sink as low as this. Blizzard of Oz and Diary were two of my favourite albums as a teenager.I loved Ozzy. Then the Osbournes came and my opinion of him changed. The legend was destroyed for me. Then learning what they did to Bob Dailsey and Lee Kerslake was the nail in the coffin. I still love the music but the legend is gone im afraid. I put on "Mob Rules" by Sabbath yesterday and blasted it out, now thats Sabbath!!
