Jay Jesse Johnson "Play That Damn Guitar"
Billy White Trio "Illusionation"
Tony Spinner "Rollin' & Tumblin"
Blindside Blues Band "Smokehouse Sessions"
Onesko/Bogert/Ceo Project "Big Electric Cream Jam"
Big Jim Slade "Big Jim Slade" remastered & repackaged
Listening to the Jay Jesse Johnson CD as I type...if you like smokin' blues rock with totally over the top guitar work and great tone...check this disc out...I have all three of his CD's and all of them rock!!!!!
Played the Onesko/Bogert/Ceo Project live Cream tribute CD and that one rocked hard also...great classic sounding music with great guitar and the usual stellar bass playing you'd expect from Tim Bogert.
Steve, just wanna give a big shout out of thanks to you for posting this! I have spent the last several days checking out sound bites on this web site, and I just placed an order for 10 CD's, all by artists I have never heard of, but the sound bites were good enough to make me want them (my credit card is in shock, though!).
But anyway, cannot wait to get my shipment. I love supporting relatively unknown, or independent artists...and there is some great talent and music out there. This site specializes in blues based, but still rockin', killer guitar discs. I'll be hangin' out by the mailbox... :)
Gordy I'm sure Joe is very happy about your new Grooveyard order...he's a small business man just trying to make a living and trying to release some of the best heavy blues rock music he can...we need to support labels like Grooveyard who aren't afraid to put quality music over hyped bands that we really don't want to listen to anyways...spread the word about Grooveyard...let your friends check out some of the great music you will be listening to real soon hopefully...get on the mailing list so you recieve updates of new Grooveyard CD's as soon as they're released.
Without a doubt! After I've gotten the music, and listened to it some, not only will I share with my friends locally, but I will let this community know about it...maybe post a few reviews, etc. Thanks again!!
There is a lot of great music out there...you just have to know where to look. Check out this killer band COLD TRUTH...if you like Free, Bad Company & Humble Pie or any blues based hard rock with killer vocals but a very 70's type sound...I used to sell their CD's...great cool classic rock band...you can listen and buy it here for a great price...just click on this hyperlink and get ready to rock.
Steve, I have the two Cold Truth albums....and you're right they sound a lot like Bad Company and Free....hell, on the first album they cover Free's "Fire and Water"! Great Band!!!!
Cold Truth isn't on Grooveyard as far as I know from my dealings with the band they are indie artist and distribute their CD's themselves...they are a very cool band.
You really need to hook up with Grooveyard Records...I told Joe about this site...he puts out artist doing the same kind of great 70's sounding stuff we all like...you know stuff with a sound similar to SRV, Pat Travers, Frank Marino...he has some amazingly talented musicians on his label...for instance Jay Jesse Johnson...when you hear this guys "Play That Damn Guitar" CD you'll be blown away by this guys talent and guitar prowness.
Give Joe an E-mail at his other addy riffking@rochester.rr.com I'd like to see some of his CD's he works so hard to get released see a review or two here...check out the first Big Jim Slade disc...a great solid rock album with the classic attitude of Cold Truth mixed with Kings X...it totally rocks in a classic way.
He also just did a live Cream tribute CD feturing Mike Onesko (Blinside Blues Band) & Tim Bogert (Beck Bogert & Appice amongst others) can get more classic than that...and it's a great recording...so what are you waiting for hook up with Joe at that E-mail...tell him Steve sent you.
The Big Jim Slade is a killer disc! I have listened to it 4 or 5 times already, in just a few days! I haven't yet heard the other Big Jim I bought, "This Is Delicious"...but that will be playing at home tonight! Last night, listened to "Riffage" by Al Estrada. I'm just appreciative of your post, Steve, and a company like Grooveyard. Music makes life better...period!!
And I absolutely love to support independent, or "unknown" bands, hopeful that they will get their just reward some day! Some killer talent at Grooveyard.
Also, I do shop at CDBaby quite a lot. I just listened to the sound bites for both Cold Truth CD's, and I will definitely buy the 1st one to start with, and probably end up buying the newest one at some point, as well.
Some other indie artists I have found thru CDBaby for you to check out Steve include: Abandoned Souls, American Motherload, Echo Of Souls, Hollow, Slave To The System, and two Christian heavy bands that are killer...Keys 2 Eden, and Wishpool.
One other band that I think are "up there" with Big Jim Slade, in terms of talent and style...is King Zero. They have 2 CD's...both very good, but especially their self-titled CD. Its just like Big Jim Slade....so good, you dont want to stop listening!!
Gordon I used to sell American Motherload & Slave To The System both at Two Guys Music where I was a buyer of indies and imports...in fact I have them with the original artwork...which is different from the new pressings of both.
I will check out the the 2 0r 3 other bands you mentioned I don't have and get back to you...now here's a lit of killer bands you need to check out.
